Two-Position Lift Chairs. 
A two-position power lift recliner has two main positions, often called sitting and reading positions. The name “two-position” is a bit of a misnomer, however, since these chairs can be positioned anywhere between the sitting and reading positions. In other words, these chairs will accommodate any position between upright and 45 degrees (the so-called reading position). Like all lift chairs, there is a standing position as well.

Three-Position Lift Chairs. 
A three-position lift recliner has the same two positions as a two-position recliner plus a third almost fully reclined position. In other words, these chairs are fully adjustable between an upright position and a reclined position of about 60-80 degrees. This type of chair has a standing position as well, of course.

Infinite-Position Lift Chairs. 
An infinite-position power lift recliner has the same positions as a three-position recliner, but the footrest can be independently adjusted as well.  As the others, this type of chair also provides a standing position.

Zero-Gravity Lift Chairs. 
A zero-gravity lift chair will recline up to a full 90 degrees, and even allow you to raise the footrest above your body. Zero-gravity chairs offer positions which remove stress from the back and spine, give expanded lung capacity and improve circulation. These are some of the most comfortable recliner lift chairs available.

Lift Chair Sizes

Recliner lift chairs also come in a variety of sizes to accommodate different sized people more comfortably.

Petit and Small are typically for persons 5’4” or smaller.

Medium is for persons between 5’4” and 5’10”.

Large is for persons between 5’10” and 6’2”.

Extra Large is for persons 6’2” or taller.

Other Lift Chair Options

Recliner lift chairs also come in heavy duty, which will accommodate people up to 700 lbs.  Be sure to check the specifications of the exact model you intent to purchase for lift capacity. 

Extra wide is also an option for those needing more seat room. The actual width will vary between manufacturers.
